If you're looking for an easy way to escape to Mexico without flying across the country to reach your cruise ship, Carnival Cruise Line is giving West Coast cruisers more options.
Carnival has opened additional sailings for its 2028-29 season from Long Beach, California, with Carnival Radiance and Carnival Panorama offering cruises ranging from quick three-day getaways to longer eight-day Mexican Riviera vacations. The new itineraries will operate from May 2028 through April 2029, giving cruisers plenty of opportunities to head south from California throughout the year. And depending on how much time you have, there are some very different vacation options.
For cruisers who don't have a full week available or simply don't want to spend a week on a cruise Carnival Radiance will offer several shorter itineraries. Three-day cruises will visit Ensenada, Mexico, making them a relatively easy long-weekend getaway.
Four-day cruises will add Catalina Island to the itinerary, giving passengers the opportunity to experience two destinations during a short cruise. These shorter sailings can be particularly appealing to people who are new to cruising, those looking for a quick vacation or anyone who doesn't have enough vacation time for a traditional seven-day cruise.
Carnival is also offering a five-day sailing aboard Carnival Radiance departing December 21, 2028.
The holiday itinerary will visit:
- Catalina Island
- Cabo San Lucas
- Ensenada
For anyone looking to get away around Christmas, that's a pretty interesting combination for a five-day cruise.
Cruisers looking for a longer vacation can turn to Carnival Panorama. The ship will offer six- and eight-day Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach. The six-day itineraries will visit Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, with the Cabo San Lucas itinerary featuring two days in the destination. Having two days in Cabo gives passengers more time to explore rather than trying to fit everything into a single port day. For those who really want to explore the Mexican Riviera, the eight-day itineraries go considerably farther.
These cruises will visit:
- Cabo San Lucas
- La Paz
- Mazatlán
- Puerto Vallarta
That's a lot of Mexico packed into an eight-day vacation.
Carnival has established Long Beach as one of its most important West Coast homeports. For cruisers living in California and other parts of the western United States, having a ship sailing regularly from Long Beach eliminates the need to fly to Florida or another major cruise port. That can make a significant difference in the overall cost and complexity of a cruise vacation.
There's also something to be said for being able to drive to your cruise rather than dealing with airports, connections and airline schedules. Carnival says it carries more guests from Long Beach than any other cruise line, and these new sailings show the company continues to see strong demand for cruising to Mexico from the West Coast.
The two ships are offering distinctly different experiences with these new itineraries. Want a quick getaway? Carnival Radiance's three- and four-day cruises might be the better choice. Want to see more than one Mexican destination? Carnival Panorama's longer cruises provide considerably more time in Mexico.
Want to really explore the Mexican Riviera? The eight-day Panorama itineraries are the clear choice, with four Mexican ports including La Paz, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. And if you're looking for a holiday cruise, that special five-day Carnival Radiance sailing around Christmas 2028 could be worth putting on the calendar.
