Mom Arrested After 3-Day Cruise, Police Say She Left 4 Children Home Alone

A three-day Carnival cruise ended with an arrest for a North Miami Beach mother after police say she left her four young children home alone while she sailed to the Bahamas.

According to an arrest affidavit, 29-year-old Nathalie Belizaire was taken into custody Monday morning after Carnival Conquest returned to PortMiami. Police allege she had left four children, including a 2-month-old infant and a 2-year-old, inside her apartment without adult supervision.

The cruise departed PortMiami Friday on a short weekend sailing that included a stop at Carnival's Celebration Key before returning Monday.

Police became involved after the father of the 2-month-old reportedly saw a WhatsApp post from Belizaire showing that she was on the cruise. When he asked about the children, police say she told him they would be staying with their great-grandmother.

But when the father went to the apartment Saturday night, he reportedly heard the children inside. He called 911, and first responders entered the home and found all four children without an adult present. According to the arrest report, the children were together and hiding in a bathroom.

The great-grandmother reportedly told police that Belizaire had said she would bring the children to her, but never did. Police also said Belizaire's brother received a message from her telling him to check on the children.

Belizaire was arrested after the cruise and faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. She declined to give police a statement and invoked her right to remain silent.

The case is now making its way through the court system, and the allegations in the arrest report have not been proven at trial.

For the video version of this story, there is also courtroom footage of Judge Mindy S. Glazer addressing Belizaire after her arrest. That footage provides a striking conclusion to a story that began with what was supposed to be a short weekend cruise.

Royal Caribbean Reassigning Cabins on Ovation of the Seas

Some guests booked on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas are finding themselves without the cabin they originally paid for.

According to reports from affected guests, Royal Caribbean has been reassigning some cabins, with passengers seeing their original cabin assignment removed and their reservation placed into a “To Be Announced” status while the cruise line looks for a new cabin.

The situation is particularly frustrating for guests who specifically paid more for a certain type of cabin or selected a particular location on the ship. A new cabin could potentially be different from what they originally chose, whether that means a different location, view, or cabin category.

At this point, there does not appear to be a lot of information available about how many cabins are affected or exactly why Royal Caribbean is making the changes. It also isn't clear whether affected guests will ultimately receive an equivalent cabin or whether some will be offered something different.

For passengers who have received one of these notices, the big question is what happens next. Being placed in a “To Be Announced” cabin can be especially unsettling when you're months away from your cruise and have already paid based on a specific cabin selection.

We'll be watching this story as more information becomes available and, hopefully, Royal Caribbean provides affected guests with some answers soon.

Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady Breaks Free in Greece

Passengers and onlookers at the port of Rhodes, Greece, got quite a scare Wednesday evening when Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady broke free from its berth.

The 110,000-ton cruise ship was being held alongside the pier when powerful winds and heavy swells reportedly snapped its mooring lines. The ship then began drifting through the harbor, coming into contact with a nearby catamaran and two smaller boats.

Fortunately, the situation did not turn into a major disaster. The captain and crew were able to regain control of Scarlet Lady and maneuver the ship back alongside the pier.

No injuries were reported, but video of the massive cruise ship moving freely through the harbor quickly spread across social media. The footage is certainly dramatic, particularly when you see just how large the Scarlet Lady is compared with the smaller vessels around it.

While seeing a cruise ship break away from the dock can look terrifying, this is also a reminder of how quickly conditions can change in a harbor. Strong winds, heavy swells and the enormous forces placed on mooring lines can create a challenging situation even for a modern cruise ship.

Thankfully, in this case, the crew was able to get the ship back under control without reported injuries.

The SpongeBob Musical Is Coming to Royal Caribbean's Hero of the Seas

If nautical nonsense is something you wish, Royal Caribbean is bringing SpongeBob SquarePants to sea.

Starting in August 2027, The SpongeBob Musical will make its at-sea debut aboard Hero of the Seas, where it will headline the ship's Royal Theater when the new ship debuts from Miami.

The musical is based on the popular Nickelodeon series and follows SpongeBob and his friends as they try to save Bikini Bottom from an impending volcanic eruption. The original Broadway production featured music from a long list of artists, including David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Steven Tyler and Panic! at the Disco.

The SpongeBob Musical received 12 Tony Award nominations in 2018 and won for Best Scenic Design of a Musical.

Royal Caribbean says the production will be reimagined specifically for the Royal Theater, but the cruise line has not yet announced how long the show will run or exactly when performances will take place. So far, it also has not announced the musical for any other ships.

This is another example of Royal Caribbean bringing recognizable Broadway productions to its ships. The cruise line has previously featured shows including Mamma Mia! and Hairspray, while its newer Icon Class ships have taken things even further with major family productions.

Icon of the Seas debuted The Wizard of Oz at sea in 2024, followed by Back to the Future: The Musical on Star of the Seas in 2025 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory aboard Legend of the Seas in 2026.

Now, SpongeBob is getting his turn.

And considering how popular the character is with both kids and adults who grew up watching the show, this could be a pretty fun addition to the entertainment lineup on Hero of the Seas.

More Than 100 Men Unknowingly Wear Matching Shirts on Star of the Seas

Talk about an awkward moment on a cruise ship.

More than 100 men aboard Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas unknowingly showed up wearing the exact same Hawaiian-style shirt during a Caribbean-themed night, and the prank has recently gone viral on social media.

The shirts featured a red tropical design with palm trees, islands, waves and a sunset. They looked like the kind of shirt you might expect to see on a Caribbean cruise, which was exactly what made the prank work.

According to social media posts, wives, girlfriends and other traveling companions coordinated the whole thing. The idea was reportedly shared in a Facebook group, with participants instructed to meet near The Pearl at 7 p.m. on Caribbean night.

As the men began arriving one by one, most apparently had no idea what was happening. Then the matching shirts started piling up.

One participant jokingly described himself as having been "victimized" and said he might as well turn in his man card after realizing he was part of the prank.

Eventually, more than 100 men had gathered together for a group photo, with some women joining in on the fun. The photo has since received more than 18,000 likes on Instagram.

The prank happened during Star of the Seas' June 14 sailing from Port Canaveral, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise that visited Perfect Day CocoCay, St. Thomas and St. Kitts.

This prank has been around for a while and we have to give these panners some credit because someone tried to organize this type event on our Alaska cruise in July and it never took off, but the comments are full of photos of other successful shirt pranks.

So if you're on a cruise and suddenly realize that half the men around you are wearing the exact same Hawaiian shirt, you might want to check with your traveling companion. Have you been a victim of the shirt prank let us know in the comments.
