Guests sailing aboard Carnival Panorama on the July 26 departure from Long Beach are being urged not to drive to the cruise terminal after Carnival notified passengers that no terminal parking will be available for this sailing.
The unusual parking restriction is tied to the Vans Warped Tour music festival, which is taking place in nearby Long Beach the same weekend. The event is expected to bring heavy traffic, road closures, and increased demand for parking throughout the waterfront area, leaving the cruise terminal without parking for Panorama guests.
Carnival is recommending that passengers arrange for rideshare services, taxis, or have someone drop them off at the terminal. Guests who choose to drive anyway may be directed to an off-site parking lot that is not operated by the Port of Long Beach, which could add extra time to the embarkation process.
The parking issue does not affect the cruise itinerary. Carnival Panorama is still scheduled to depart on its six-night Mexican Riviera voyage, visiting Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada before returning to Long Beach.
If you're sailing on this cruise, it's a good idea to review your transportation plans now. Arriving early, allowing extra travel time, and avoiding driving to the port altogether will likely make embarkation much less stressful.
While this appears to be a one-time situation tied to the festival weekend, it serves as a reminder that major events near cruise ports can sometimes impact parking and traffic. Always keep an eye on pre-cruise emails from your cruise line in the days leading up to your sailing, as they often contain important last-minute travel information.
