Mother Dies Trying to Save Sons from Strong Current During Cruise Excursion in Bimini

A family vacation in the Bahamas has ended in heartbreaking tragedy after a 36-year-old mother from England drowned while trying to save her two sons from a powerful ocean current.

The incident happened Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while the family was visiting North Bimini during a cruise vacation.

According to news reports, the mother was snorkeling with her husband and two children when a strong current swept the boys farther away from their parents. The mother immediately went into the water to help, but she too became caught in the dangerous conditions.

A local water taxi captain, Linty Stuart of L&A Water Taxi, spotted what he described as frantic hands waving in the distance and rushed to assist.

His crew and bystanders managed to bring both boys to safety. However, large waves, reportedly reaching seven to eight feet, made reaching the mother extremely difficult.

She was eventually found face down in the water and brought to the North Bimini Ferry Dock, where rescuers performed CPR. She was then taken to a local clinic, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities do not suspect foul play, and an autopsy is planned to determine the exact cause of death.

The woman's identity has not been publicly released in the reports provided, and the specific cruise ship and cruise line involved have not been confirmed by authorities. The British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has confirmed it is in contact with local authorities and providing support to the family.

Witnesses described the mother as a hero for trying to save her children. The water taxi captain said the events unfolded incredibly quickly, leaving those involved in shock.

This tragedy is also a sobering reminder for anyone planning a beach day or snorkeling excursion during a cruise. Ocean currents can become dangerous in seconds, even when the water looks inviting. Always pay attention to local warnings, follow excursion guides' safety instructions, and use appropriate flotation equipment when recommended.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the woman's husband, her two sons, and their entire family as they face this unimaginable loss. We also extend our condolences to everyone who witnessed this heartbreaking event.

Sometimes, a dream vacation can change in an instant.

Royal Caribbean Cruisers Are Being Fooled by a Fake Gratuity Policy Change

Royal Caribbean cruisers may have seen a social media post claiming the cruise line has changed its gratuity policy, but there's one big problem: the announcement is completely fake!

A fabricated press release dated October 19, 2026, has been circulating online, claiming Royal Caribbean guests can no longer remove or adjust their daily gratuities at Guest Services once onboard. The supposed policy change claimed the charges would become non-removable immediately.

But Royal Caribbean has confirmed that its gratuity policy has not changed. Guests can still visit Guest Relations onboard to request adjustments or removal of their gratuities before the morning of disembarkation. Once the cruise ends, those changes can no longer be made.

The clarification comes after confusion over the cruise line's policies and rumors about changes to service charges. Royal Caribbean also confirmed that its gratuity rates have not increased.

As of October 2026, guests staying in standard cabins pay $18.50 per person, per day, while suite guests pay $21 per person, per day. That means a family of four in a standard cabin will pay $518 in gratuities on a seven-night cruise.

Additional service charges also remain unchanged, at 18% for beverages, specialty dining, room service, and minibar purchases, and 20% for spa and salon services.

The fake announcement has sparked plenty of debate among cruisers. Some believe gratuities should remain in place to support the crew, while others argue they should be included in the cruise fare rather than added separately.

Regardless of where you stand on tipping, this story is an important reminder to verify cruise news before sharing it. Social media posts and even official-looking press releases can be misleading. When in doubt, check the cruise line's official website or contact the company directly.

The bottom line? Royal Caribbean has not changed its gratuity policy, and guests can still request adjustments onboard before disembarkation. Don't let a fake announcement fool you!

3 Cruise Passengers Busted in Embarkation-Day Drug Sweep at PortMiami

Three passengers hoping to begin their cruise vacation never even made it aboard Norwegian Jewel. Instead, they were arrested at PortMiami after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered suspected illegal drugs in their luggage.

The arrests happened Tuesday, October 20, during an operation called “Operation Temptation 2026” at Terminal B. All three passengers were traveling separately but were scheduled to board the same ship, which was set to visit Nassau in The Bahamas and Key West before returning to Miami.

According to arrest affidavits, drug-detection screening uncovered THC products and other suspected controlled substances, leading officers to turn the passengers over to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.

The most extensive seizure reportedly involved a 38-year-old orthopedic surgeon from Arizona. Authorities allege that Jacob Henrichsen had an assortment of substances in his luggage, including gummies, capsules, pills, THC mints, a vape pen, and chocolate bars marketed as containing mushrooms.

Field tests reportedly indicated the presence of MDMA, THC, and substances identified as LSD. The surgeon faces one felony trafficking charge and two felony possession counts. His attorney later challenged the reported drug weights, arguing that the figures included the weight of ingredients such as sugar and water. A judge set his bond at $40,000.

Two other passengers were also arrested. Kimberly Shannon, 57, of Ohio, allegedly had THC gummies and two THC vape pens in her luggage. Lori Watt, 51, of Illinois, was accused of carrying cannabis gummies, candies, and two THC vape pens. Both women face felony drug possession charges.

Because the quantities involved did not meet federal prosecution thresholds, the cases were referred to local authorities.

And here's the important reminder for anyone preparing to cruise: Don't assume you can bring something aboard just because it's legal in your home state. Cannabis and THC products remain prohibited under cruise line policies, and marijuana remains illegal under federal law. Other substances can carry serious legal consequences as well.

We've personally gone through the drug-dog screening process at cruise terminals and watched passengers get pulled aside while officers checked their belongings. These screenings are real, and the dogs can be remarkably effective at detecting prohibited substances.

Our advice is simple: Don't try to sneak drugs onto a cruise ship. You could lose your vacation before it even begins, face criminal charges, and end up dealing with legal problems long after everyone else has sailed away.

For these three passengers, their planned cruise aboard Norwegian Jewel ended before they ever stepped on board.

Carnival Is Switching to Dynamic Pricing for Drinks and Wi-Fi — And Cruisers Aren't Happy

Carnival Cruise Line is making a change that could leave some cruisers paying more than others for the exact same drink package or Wi-Fi plan. And you can probably guess how that's going over with passengers!

Beginning December 1, 2026, Carnival is introducing dynamic pricing for its individual beverage packages and internet plans. Instead of relying on standardized daily rates across its fleet, prices will vary depending on the length of the cruise, the itinerary, and the time of year.

Carnival says the change will provide guests with greater flexibility and more options. But many cruisers are asking a different question: Does this mean the extras we buy before our cruise are about to become more expensive?

Could Two Cruisers Pay Different Prices?

That's one of the biggest concerns surrounding this announcement.

Imagine booking a seven-night Caribbean cruise and purchasing the CHEERS! beverage package. Someone sailing on a different Carnival ship, during another season, could pay a different price for essentially the same package.

And what about two passengers booked on the exact same sailing? Could one pay more than the other because they purchased their packages at different times?

That's where things get interesting.

Carnival has confirmed that prices will vary based on the sailing's characteristics, but it has not publicly provided a complete pricing schedule showing how much packages will cost across different cruises. So we don't yet have enough information to say exactly how pricing will work in every situation.

However, Carnival has confirmed one important detail: once you purchase a package, your price is locked in. If the price changes later, your confirmed purchase won't be repriced.

That means purchasing at a price you're comfortable with could provide some peace of mind.

What About Carnival's FunPacks?

The announcement comes alongside Carnival's new FunPacks, which bundle drinks, Wi-Fi, shore excursions, specialty dining, and other perks into packages advertised as offering savings of 35% to 55%.

The four options are Kidstarter, Zero Proof, Social, and Epic, with prices ranging from $25 to $99 per person, per day.

The dynamic pricing announcement applies to individual beverage and Wi-Fi packages, rather than the FunPacks themselves. That creates another decision for cruisers: Is it better to purchase extras separately or choose one of the bundled options?

The answer will depend on which benefits you actually plan to use and the prices available for your sailing. (we have a video on our Youtube channel breaking this down)

Will This Cost Cruisers More? That's the million-dollar question, and right now, we don't have enough information to say.

Carnival hasn't released a comprehensive breakdown of the new prices, so we can't yet determine whether the change will generally make drinks and Wi-Fi more expensive or whether some sailings could offer better prices.

What we do know is that comparing cruise extras may become more complicated. Rather than assuming a package costs the same across the fleet, passengers will need to check the price for their specific sailing.

And for cruisers who already feel they're being charged extra for everything, the announcement is giving them another reason to question where cruise pricing is headed.

Personally, I think the biggest issue will be transparency. If prices vary, passengers need to understand what they're paying, what affects the price, and whether booking earlier makes a difference.

What do you think? Should Carnival be able to charge different prices for the same drink package or Wi-Fi plan depending on the sailing? And would you be upset if another passenger paid less than you for the exact same package on your cruise?

McDonald’s Is Giving Away $10,000 in Carnival Cruises

Like I need another reason to stop at McDonald’s for some of those fries! But now that Monopoly is back, there’s an even bigger temptation for cruise lovers: a chance to win a $10,000 Carnival Cruise vacation package!

McDonald’s Monopoly is officially back, and this year’s prizes include 50 Carnival vacation packages available nationwide. And if you’ve ever played the game, you know how it goes. You tell yourself the odds are terrible, you grab your food, scan your game pieces, and suddenly you’re convinced you’re one property away from becoming a millionaire!

This year, collecting both dark blue properties — Boardwalk and Park Place — could land you that Carnival prize.

A TikTok video from @gretchwin has already racked up millions of views, showing a man named Milo staring in disbelief at his phone after the app revealed he had won a Carnival Cruise Vacation. The video quickly sparked excitement, congratulations, and plenty of questions about what happens next.

And here's something important: don't throw away those game pieces!

Even after scanning the winning properties, winners must submit the physical pieces along with the required paperwork for verification. So if you're lucky enough to win, make sure you follow the official instructions and keep everything you need.

What Does the $10,000 Prize Include?

According to the official rules, each of the 50 Carnival packages includes:

  • $7,000 in Carnival Cruise Line gift cards that do not expire and can be used toward Carnival cruises.

  • A $3,000 prepaid gift card to help cover travel expenses such as flights, hotels, and transportation to the port.

The prize is non-transferable, cannot be redeemed for cash, and winners are responsible for expenses exceeding the package's value.

Now here's where it gets interesting for cruisers. That $7,000 in Carnival gift cards could potentially pay for several vacations instead of just one. Depending on the sailing, cabin category, and time of year, winners might be able to stretch that money across multiple cruises — or use it toward one more luxurious getaway.

Want to splurge on a suite aboard a ship like Carnival Celebration or Carnival Jubilee? That could be an option, too, depending on the sailing and its price.

And remember, the separate $3,000 travel card can help cover getting to the ship, leaving the cruise gift cards available for the cruise itself.

Of course, the odds of collecting both Park Place and Boardwalk are a staggering 1 in 187,960,469, according to the information provided for this promotion. Boardwalk is the rare piece, so don't count on those fries delivering a free cruise just yet!

The Carnival packages aren't the only prizes up for grabs. This year's Monopoly lineup also includes two $100,000 cash prizes, two $100,000 gold bar prizes, five 2027 Jeep Cherokees, Universal Orlando Resort vacations, Hilton resort getaways, and other prizes.

So, will I be scanning my McDonald's Monopoly pieces? Absolutely! Do I realistically expect to win a Carnival cruise? Not particularly — but that probably won't stop me from checking.

Now I have to ask: If you won $7,000 in Carnival cruise gift cards, would you take one big, luxurious cruise or spread the money across three or four vacations?

Personally, the idea of multiple cruises sounds pretty good to me. After all, one free cruise is exciting, but several cruises? Now we're talking!
