Carnival Doubles Celebration Key's Capacity with New Pier Expansion

Carnival Corporation has completed a major expansion at Celebration Key, nearly one year after the exclusive Bahamian destination first opened to guests.

The project adds two new berths to the existing pier, allowing Celebration Key to welcome up to four cruise ships at the same time instead of two.

The expanded pier can now accommodate Carnival's largest Excel-class ships while giving the cruise line much more flexibility when planning Caribbean itineraries.

The additional capacity is expected to bring approximately 700,000 more guests to Celebration Key each year, with three- and four-ship days becoming common beginning this fall.

Later this year, the destination will also begin welcoming ships from other Carnival Corporation brands, including Princess Cruises and AIDA.

The expansion is another sign that Carnival is betting heavily on its exclusive destinations, making Celebration Key an even bigger centerpiece of its Caribbean cruise program.

Carnival Warns of Sydney Terminal Construction Delays

Carnival Cruise Line is alerting guests sailing from Sydney, Australia, that construction around the Overseas Passenger Terminal could impact embarkation and disembarkation over the coming weeks.

While all sailings remain on schedule, passengers should expect possible traffic delays, longer transfer times, and heavier congestion around the terminal area due to ongoing port upgrades in one of Sydney’s busiest waterfront districts.

Carnival is advising guests to arrive earlier than usual on embarkation day and allow extra time for transportation into the port.

Cruise operations themselves are not affected, but the surrounding infrastructure work may slow down the boarding process during peak times.

Caribbean Cruising Expected to Reach Record Levels in 2026

The Caribbean is on track for another record-breaking year as cruise lines continue adding more ships and more sailings to the region.

According to a new industry report, the Caribbean is expected to welcome nearly 17 million cruise passengers in 2026, making it by far the world's busiest cruise destination.

More than 200 cruise ships from over 40 cruise lines are scheduled to sail Caribbean itineraries this year, with the region accounting for roughly 41% of global cruise capacity.

For cruisers, the continued growth means more itinerary choices and newer ships than ever before. It also highlights why booking early has become increasingly important, especially for popular Caribbean sailings during peak travel seasons.

Royal Caribbean Expanding Smoke-Free Gaming on Symphony of the Seas

Royal Caribbean is continuing to expand its smoke-free casino options. The cruise line has confirmed that Symphony of the Seas will add a dedicated non-smoking casino by this fall, giving passengers another place to enjoy table games and slot machines without cigarette smoke.

The move comes as more cruisers request smoke-free gaming areas. While many ships already offer non-smoking sections, dedicated smoke-free casinos have become increasingly popular, especially among guests who enjoy gambling but prefer to avoid smoky environments.

Symphony of the Seas will join a growing list of Royal Caribbean ships offering completely smoke-free casino spaces, reflecting the cruise line's effort to provide more choices for all guests.

The announcement is likely to be welcomed by many cruisers, particularly those who have avoided spending time in the casino because of the smoke. As passenger preferences continue to evolve, smoke-free gaming appears to be a trend that's here to stay.

Carnival Crew Member Hailed as Hero After Saving Choking Infant

This week, one of the biggest stories is about a Carnival crew member whose quick actions helped save the life of an 11-month-old girl.

Millić Šarović, a restaurant manager aboard Carnival Celebration, was enjoying dinner after finishing his shift when another crew member alerted him to an emergency.

An 11-month-old girl had choked on a grape and had stopped breathing.

Šarović immediately rushed to help and performed the proper infant choking rescue technique. Within about a minute, the grape was dislodged, and the little girl began breathing again.

The ship's medical team later confirmed that his quick response likely saved her life.

Carnival Cruise Line honored Šarović with its prestigious "Hero" Award, recognizing crew members who go above and beyond in extraordinary situations.

It's a powerful reminder that behind every cruise vacation are thousands of highly trained crew members who are prepared to respond when the unexpected happens.
