Norwegian Sun Suffers Propulsion Issues, Upcoming Cruise Could Be Impacte
d

Passengers aboard the Norwegian Sun are dealing with propulsion issues that have already forced itinerary changes, including the cancellation of several ports of call on the ship's current Baltic sailing. According to guests onboard, the mechanical problem has reduced the ship's speed, making it impossible to keep its original schedule.

The good news is that Norwegian Cruise Line says the issue does not affect the safety of the ship, but slower speeds can mean missed ports or shorter visits while repairs are planned.

The bigger question now is what happens next. Norwegian Sun is scheduled to begin another nine-night cruise on Monday, and passengers booked on that sailing will be watching closely for any updates. At this point, there's been no indication that the cruise will be canceled, but itinerary changes remain a possibility if repairs aren't completed in time.

If you're sailing on Norwegian Sun in the coming days, keep an eye on your email and the Norwegian Cruise Line app for the latest information.

Royal Caribbean Looking for Volunteers to Cancel Select Alaska Cruises

If you're sailing to Alaska this summer on Serenade of the Seas or Voyager of the Seas, keep an eye on your email. Royal Caribbean has reportedly begun contacting some guests booked on select sailings, asking if they would be willing to voluntarily cancel their cruise in exchange for compensation.

The offer appears to be aimed at reducing the number of passengers on a few Alaska sailings, although Royal Caribbean has not publicly explained why these specific cruises are being targeted. Guests who accept the offer receive compensation, but those who decline will still sail as originally planned.

This story hits a little closer to home for us because our July 17th Alaska cruise aboard Voyager of the Seas is one of the sailings included in these emails. We haven't received the offer ourselves, but several passengers booked on the same cruise have shared that they have.

If you're booked on one of these sailings and receive the email, it's worth reading the details carefully before making a decision. For many travelers, changing vacation plans on short notice simply isn't practical, even with compensation. Others may find the offer attractive if they have flexible schedules.

At this point, the cruises are still expected to sail as scheduled, and passengers who choose not to accept the offer do not need to take any action.

Miami Terminal Brawl Gets 16 Passengers Banned for Life

A routine cruise return turned chaotic at the Port of Miami when a disembarkation morning spiraled into a full-on fight that ended with 16 Carnival passengers permanently banned from sailing again.

The incident happened on June 22, 2026, after guests disembarked from the Carnival Conquest. What should have been a simple customs line process at Terminal F quickly escalated when two families began arguing inside the customs and border checkpoint area.

According to multiple reports, the dispute reportedly started over a minor confrontation described by witnesses as a “wrong look” or verbal exchange before luggage started moving, voices escalated, and then the situation turned physical.

Within moments, what had been an organized disembarkation line turned into a chaotic scene. Video circulating online shows passengers shoving, throwing punches, and even dragging luggage and stanchions into the fight while others tried to back away from the chaos. Customs officers and port security moved in quickly, but the situation was already out of control.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office later described the incident as a “mutual combatant” situation, meaning both sides were considered equally involved, and no one requested to press charges. Despite the lack of arrests, Carnival Cruise Line took immediate action.

The cruise line confirmed that all 16 individuals involved were placed on its “Do Not Sail” list, effectively banning them from sailing with the company in the future. Carnival reiterated its zero-tolerance policy, emphasizing that behavior like this is not acceptable at any point during the cruise experience including in port after disembarkation.

What makes this incident stand out is not just the size of the group involved, but the setting. Cruise terminals are typically controlled environments with security presence, but this fight showed how quickly tensions can boil over in crowded post-cruise disembarkation lines where fatigue, travel stress, and long waits already run high.

Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Sets Sail on Historic July 4th Maiden Voyage

Royal Caribbean is gearing up for one of the most anticipated ship debuts in recent years as its newest Icon-class vessel, Legend of the Seas, prepares for its first official sailing on July 4, 2026.

Originally scheduled to debut a week later, the cruise line moved the inaugural sailing forward after construction and sea trials wrapped ahead of schedule, allowing the ship to welcome guests earlier than planned.

The July 4th departure is not just another cruise it marks the official maiden voyage of what Royal Caribbean is calling the next evolution of its “Icon Class” lineup. The ship will begin its journey with a 7-night Western Mediterranean itinerary sailing from Barcelona, kicking off a summer season designed to showcase the newest innovations in the fleet.

Legend of the Seas is expected to rival the largest cruise ships in the world, featuring massive entertainment zones, multi-deck neighborhoods, and record-setting onboard amenities including expansive water attractions, dining venues, and immersive entertainment concepts.

As with any inaugural sailing, cruise watchers are paying close attention. First cruises often come with a mix of excitement and unpredictability, crew learning new systems, entertainment teams fine-tuning shows, and small adjustments happening behind the scenes while guests experience everything in real time.

Royal Caribbean, however, has been actively preparing the ship through extensive sea trials and testing in the weeks leading up to launch, signaling confidence that Legend of the Seas is ready for its debut.

After its summer Mediterranean season, the ship is expected to reposition to Florida later in the year to begin Caribbean sailings, including stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Margaritaville at Sea Celebrates One Millionth Guest

Margaritaville at Sea has reached a major milestone, welcoming its one millionth passenger since the cruise line launched under the Margaritaville brand in 2022. The lucky guest, a man from Tennessee, had no idea he was about to become part of cruise history.

Before boarding, he was surprised with a celebration and a prize package that included complimentary future cruises, onboard credit, exclusive gifts, and other vacation perks. Not a bad way to start a cruise!

The milestone highlights just how quickly Margaritaville at Sea has grown over the past four years. What started with a single ship sailing from the Port of Palm Beach has expanded to two ships, with a third vessel, Beachcomber, scheduled to join the fleet in 2027.

It's a fun reminder that you never know what might happen when you step into the cruise terminal. The next milestone passenger could be you!
